Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Nuclear Med Tech, you will be a specialized healthcare professional, vital in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services through the precise application of radionuclides.Every day, you will expertly perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, utilizing radionuclides to produce high-quality images and data for licensed practitioners. You'll ensure appropriate patient care, recognize conditions essential for successful procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate equipment, and adhere to strict radiation safety.To be successful in this role demands current certification, advanced technical expertise, and an exceptional eye for detail, coupled with a thorough understanding of radiation safety. Your compassionate patient care and dedication to precise imaging will be essential.
Displays competency operating teleradiology system and equipment including performing procedures in the department, in the operating room, and on a mobile basis. Determines test procedures according to purpose of examination.
Utilizes good radiation safety practices for patients, self, and others by use of available radiation protection devices. Ensure badges are worn appropriately and readings are available.
Displays a thorough knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and of various isotopes utilized. Displays competency injecting isotopes, if required. Updates patient examination history file, records unusual conditions/limitations, documents examination time, room number, and technique factors. Completes examination and billing procedures as required.
Marks all images with appropriate orientation and position. Assures that the patient information is clearly visible. Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Reports misadministration or isotope spills to appropriate personnel.
Always provides appropriate documentation on the PACS system stating pertinent information including reason for exam. Includes initials.
Practices good sterile technique when required and utilizes universal precautions and other infection control practices as appropriate.
