Why "Global Credit Union"?
While the announcement of becoming Global Credit Union is new to most of us, there were collective efforts over a span of years to make this exciting brand launch possible. We’ve received lots of questions asking how Alaska USA arrived at the name “Global” so, that’s what we are covering in this Inter-Comm article!
 
With Alaska USA’s members growing and expanding all throughout the US, the idea of finding a name that better reflected the membership was born. Numerous meetings and consultations were held looking for that perfect name that described this shift and exciting expansion for our members.
 
Simultaneously, the opportunity to merge with Global Credit Union was on the table. And while countless (and we mean countless) names were pitched and considered, the idea of going “Global” was a truly exciting enterprise that captured where our members would be with the merge resulting with branches abroad in Italy. This means active military and their families can access our world-class financial services on military bases outside the US.
 
The name “Global” was ultimately selected for its ability to communicate to members that no matter where their life adventures take them, their credit union will be with them and help them chart their way forward and reach whatever summit they are aiming for. This summit and mountain theme pays homage to the Alaskan mountains in addition to the mountains throughout our service areas such as the Cascades, Maricopa Mountains, etc. Playing off the word “summit” also provides imagery of climbing to a peak of any financial goals a member may have.
 
This rebrand was many years in the making. When the opportunity came to make it a reality, resources were dedicated to make sure that this move was a positive one for Alaska USA, its staff and its members. Alaska USA’s “Alaskan Core” will remain a paramount pillar in the way that we will continue to serve our members as we always have. Now, we will have a “worldly” name to match our world-class financial services provided by you, our employees.
